# 63 – Paediatric Chronic Pain with Dr Nicki Ferencz
Dr Nicki Ferencz is a clinical psychologist who is the clinical coordinator of the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.
She completed her doctoral degree in 1995 at Liverpool University in the UK and moved here to Australia in 2002 as an early career psychologist. She has worked in a number of roles, that have particularly led to working with young people who have persistent pain, after providing private practice therapeutic support for teenagers in the community and also working across burns and stroke services for adults admitted within the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The WCH Paediatric Chronic Pain Service is a new and developing service and she has was thrilled to recently receive a Friends Fellowship Award in 2019 that allowed her to travel to the UK and the US and visit key pain services. This opportunity provided much insight and perspective for the development of best practice care of young people and to assist them in better managing persistent pain.
Nicki teaches undergraduate and post graduate psychology students at Flinders and Adelaide University and is also an Executive Committee Member and Education Sub-Committee Member of the South Australian Society of Hypnosis.
She lives in the Adelaide Hills with her husband, two children, and teenage imposter, Scout the exuberant Kelpie!
